Things I Want to See in A:LOK
1. Korra in a [Asian-influenced] flapper dress. I LOVE the 1920s style clothing we’ve seen so far, like on the gangsters, and I really hope we see more of it. I would love to see Korra wear something more girly at some point (only temporary of course, her regular outfit is awesome), and since she already fits the flapper lifestyle so well, a flapper dress would be perfect.
2. Mako rapping. Haha, no.3. Korra going to the Spirit World. Not only because the Spirit World is super cool, but since Korra is such a non-spiritual Avatar, I want to see her journey, both in the Spirit World, and getting to the Spirit World (meditating, contact with a spirit/past Avatar, etc.). It would be such an integral part to Korra’s development as a character, especially if her discovering her own spirituality is a major plot point.
4. A super sweet bromance between Mako and Bolin. I love sibling relationships in stories. We’ve had some good ones in Avatar (Katara/Sokka, Zuko/Azula, etc.). Sister/brother and sister/sister relationships are great, but there’s a special dynamic in a brother/brother, because of how boys (especially teenage ones) deal with emotions, love, and that kind of stuff. I am so pumped to see how Mako and Bolin’s relationship will develop, especially with the stress of being BFFs with the Avatar.
5. The special connection between Korra and Naga. The connection that Aang/Appa and Roku/Fang had were so genuine. We saw Fang for maybe a total of 15 minutes in the entire series, and a one minute scene (where he curls around Roku to protect him before they both die) perfectly sums up an Avatar’s relationship with their animal companion. I can’t wait to see the same thing with Korra and Naga. I hope there’s some conflict to it too (like how Appa was capture). I can see Naga possibly getting injured due to Korra’s hotheadedness, and it being a huge eyeopener for Korra for how her actions affect others and how much Naga means to her.
6. Bolin being adorkable. I already know Bolin is going to be my favorite character from just that two second clip in the trailer and his character expression sheet. I can’t wait to see him be a complete nerd and a badass earthbender.
7. Adult Aang as a spirit. I am almost certain we will see this. And. I. Can’t. Wait. I want to see how much he has grown and matured, and how his wisdom will aide Korra. I also hope he’s still a huge dork. (“Korra, you have mastered all four elements and are a fully realized Avatar. But can you do this?”)
8. Korra trying to drive a car, and failing miserably. C’mon, she can’t be good at EVERYTHING. ;)
9. The Krew staying just three people. There’s been a lot of speculation if a non-bender or the mysterious Asami would join the Krew, but I would personally like it to just stay Korra, Mako, and Bolin. A:TLA did a great job of adding new members to the Gaang and it definitely worked well for the story. I’m sure the same thing would work for A:LOK, but I’d like something different. Plus, we have a ton of great major secondary characters (Tenzin and family, the Chief, etc.) that will be featured regularly since the show takes place in basically one setting.
10. Some good character-development episodes. I’m not sure if Bryke considers character-development episodes to be filler, but I hope we get some nonetheless. I wasn’t a huge fan of Zuko when I first watched the show, but “The Storm” and “Zuko Alone” really helped me to appreciate his character. I loved to see something similar for some of the A:LOK characters, especially if it’s for some of the bad guys.
